About
Mia Xerri Mondragon is a Creative Producer and Visual Artist working in the moving image and immersive space telling stories through a historical lens.
Mia’s practice combines her 15 year film production experience and archaeology and ancient history academic background to develop powerful, immersive and emotive projects that bring the past to life and illuminate ancestry and identity.
Mia has worked in the film production industry for over 15 years experience across Short Film, Commercials, TV, Documentary, Branded Content and Music Videos for some of the world's leading brands, channels, agencies and film institutes including BFI, Channel 4, and BBC. Mia’s roles freelance and in-house have seen her lead award winning productions in the UK and Internationally.
Mia has been featured on BFI's Short Film Podcast, was selected for BFI NETWORKS South East Emerging Producers Programme and is a reader for BFI NETWORK short film fund and Early Development Programme. Her BFI NETWORK short film X to X starring Tanya Reynolds was selected by BAFTA, Oscar and BIFA qualifying Cleveland International Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival, Rhode Island Film Festival, Kino Shorts, Berlin Shorts and Shortest Nights and won awards for Best Director, New Talent and Special Mention at Lowestoft and Renaissance Film Festivals.
Mia has a degree in Egyptian Archaeology and academic background in ancient history, and is a part of the hands on team in the Africa, Americas and Oceania department at The British Museum.
Mia has a number of projects in development including two of her own scripts exploring ritual and coming of age, an immersive projection piece exploring the Basque Cave of The Witches and an event at a historical Edwardian house and seance room inviting artists to interpret their experiences for exhibition within the space.
Mia also runs the Film and Photography Workshops and curates the film programme at Camp VC, a women’s and non binary motorbike and adventure event in Wales.
Mia is third generation born in the UK but mixed Spanish, Mexican and Maltese heritage.
